Density is measured in people, square footage, or dollars. The streets were once where immigrants could find a dream, but they're now a battleground of innovation. For young, wide-eyed talent, to do something interesting, the barrier of entry has never been higher, its never been so daunting and paralyzing.
The city's architecture has become stale. Boring and stagnant. We are here to change that.
Big ambitions for a first-time business. Lack of experience led to a shoestring budget, tight deadlines, and an even smaller space. Operating morning to night with three different wide-eyed programs meant a recipe for disaster; or an opportunity for design.
Million Goods is a concept store.
SOLID VOID chose to develop the project taking equity over payment for design fees. The outcome of the project became immense as we understood the reduction of RFI's, CCD's, CO's etc. that were basically never seen before.
This equity inclusion allowed for us as engineers and architects now have our own financial risk to directly streamline decisions, RFI's for the overall business Co's and CCD's. This entire budget was 280k, and we serviced 2 RFI's as result of being part of the owner team.
This may not seem like much. But I have anecdotes and research to suggest on average every single RFI that is registered in the commercial space alone its 3k in administration, and the actual impact of the RFIT is much more like 10-15k.
Our systems approach is optimized for in-house fabrication, scheduling, budgets, bidding, branding, and logistics. Ultimately, Million Goods is now a staple merchant for the purveyors of the cool in NYC.
